On January 28th, out in St. Charles, PAWS Goalkeeper Academy added another piece to the goalkeeping puzzle. 10 staff, 30 goalkeepers, coaches from 25 colleges, and countless volunteers came together to put on the first PAWS Goalkeeper Academy “College ID Camp”. This was an event for the high school goalkeeper to showcase their skills in a wide range of activities. Coaches were there from DI through NJCAA schools on both the men and women sides to observe the event.

Although it was our first attempt at such an event, it came off very smoothly. The energy level that was demonstrated by all the keepers and staff along with the music pumping in the background made it a night to remember. It started with all the keepers running through ladder work, moving on into some cross management, and then into a few different shot-stopping, breakaway, diving, and distribution activities. If that was not enough, they then had a small team keeper wars tournament followed by a coaches panel explaining the different recruiting details of all the different divisions in the college game.

The event produced a lot of sweat, a lot of smiles, and a lot of happy faces. We at PAWS Goalkeeper Academy look forward to having our next one and continue to strive to be the place where all the goalkeepers want to train.
